Drugs Confiscated in Early Morning High-Speed Chase

During the early hours of Monday 1st March 2021, officers attached to the Drug Squad, Carriacou Special Operations Team and the Grenada Coast Guard, conducted an operation to the North of the island.  

 

During this operation a black and blue fishing boat was pursued and intercepted.  Nine (9) nylon bags and one (1) bale containing plant like material resembling Cannabis that were ditched from the vessel were retrieved.    The confiscated material weighed two hundred and ninety-two (292) pounds and carries an estimated street value of six hundred and sixty-two thousand, two hundred and fifty-six dollars ($662,256.00).

 

Kevin Phillip, 28 years, Fisherman and Shamar Langdon, 24 years,  Bartender, both residents of Paradise, St. Andrew are anticipated to appear in court on Tuesday 2nd March, 2021, in connection with the seizure.

 

Phillip, who is presently on bail for a number of Drug Trafficking offences, inclusive of a discovery of seven hundred and forty-six (746) pounds of Marijuana, recently returned to Grenada after he and another Grenadian went missing after a high-speed chase during the lockdown in May 2020.   They were rescued by the US Coast Guard after three weeks and taken to the Dominican Republic where they were held for months before their repatriation to Grenada

 

Police investigations are ongoing.
