Rank Structure of the Royal Grenada Police Force
Commissioner of Police
The Commissioner of Police is appointed by the Governor-General. He may only be removed from office in accordance with provisions of Section 89 (1) of the Constitution of Grenada.
Deputy and Assistant Commissioner of Police
The Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners of Police are appointed by the Governor General acting in accordance with recommendations made by the Public Service Commission and in accordance with the Constitution.
Gazetted Officers
Officers of and above the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police are Gazetted Officer. Gazatted Officers below the rank of Commissioner are appointed by the Public Service Commission. The power to confirm and remove Gazetted Officers from office is the responsibility of the Public Service Commission.
Rank and File
All members of the Royal Grenada Police Force of and below the rank of Inspector are the Rank and File members of the Force. The power to appoint and remove rank and file personnel from office with the exception of inspectors, are vested in the Commissioner of Police. An inspector is appointed similar to a gazetted officer by the Public Service Commission.
