Police have arrested and charged a 63-year-old Belmont (St. George) resident for his suspected involvement in a slew of housebreaking and stealing offenses. Elroy Charles was apprehended by officers about 9:00 p.m. on Friday 17th April, 2020 in the Mt. Hartman (St. George) area with a flat screen television and other items believed to have been stolen. He has since been charged with four counts of housebreaking and stealing dating back to March 15th 2020. Charles made his appearance in Court today, Monday 20th April, 2020. Police investigations are continuing.
Three men who were detained in connection with a police drug bust on Saturday 18th April, 2020 have been formally charged. Rohan Primus, 28, Sailor of Union Island, and Shaun Blake, 28, Mason of Kingstown, (both Vincentians) along with Stephen Francis 27, Farmer of Grand Roy, St. John were charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug and Trafficking in a Controlled Drug. Additional charges are expected to be laid against all three men. Police investigations are continuing.
A drug bust conducted about 03:00 a.m. on Saturday 18th April, 2020 in Non Pariel, St. Mark, by officers attached to Drug Squad and Coast Guard resulted in the detention of two Vincentians, one Grenadian, the seizure of approximately 379-pounds of compressed cannabis, a fishing boat and a stack of cash (XCD). The drug is estimated to have a street value of EC$859,572.00. Police are investigating.
A Farmer of Munich, St. Andrew is in police custody assisting with investigations into the death of resident of the same village. The deceased, also a Farmer, was discovered lying in the road with multiple chop wounds to the body about 7:30 p.m. on Friday 17th April, 2020. An autopsy is pending to determine the actual cause of death.
