Man Charged for Breaking Quarantine

A visiting national has been fined 3-thousand dollars for breaching the COVID-19 mandatory quarantine regulations.

Don Thomas, 47 years, of Toronto, Canada pleaded guilty to the charge of Failing to Remain in Quarantine, as per Section 8 of the 2020 Quarantine (COVID-19) Regulations. He appeared at the St. George’s Magistrate’s Court, today, Tuesday 27th October, 2020 where he was ordered to pay the fine forthwith and in default 6 months at Her Majesty’s Prisons.

According to Section 9 (2) of the 2020 Quarantine (COVID-19) Regulations a person who is guilty of an offence under subsection (1) shall be liable, on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars.
