Four St. George residents appeared at the St. George’s Magistrate’s Court on Friday 24th January, 2020 charged in connection with the seizure of one hundred and thirty four (134) pounds of compressed cannabis. Jointly charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Drug are Clydon Osbourne, 41 years, Fisherman of Dr. Grooms, Shakim Blackman, 32 years, Taxi Driver of Grand Anse, Roland Parkes, 32 years, Labourer of The Carenage and Nicholas Hinds, 32 years, Bartender of Beaulieu. An autopsy conducted on the body of the visiting American tourist who collapsed on Mount Qua Qua has been determined as myocardial infarction otherwise called a heart attack. The 64-year-old Henrik Kranenburg collapsed while descending the steep mountainous terrain. Kranenburg, of New York, was among a group of mountain climbers visiting Mount Qua Qua on Friday 17th January, 2020, one day after arriving Grenada. The body has since been repatriated to the USA. An anti-drug operation conducted by officers attached to the Drug Squad has resulted in the seizure of one hundred and thirty four (134) pounds of compressed cannabis and the impounding of two vehicles. The drugs were recovered following a search of the two (2) vehicles that were intercepted in the vicinity of Brizan, St. George about 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday 21st January, 2020. On the early morning hours of Thursday January 9th, 2020, fire destroyed four buildings located on Grenville Street, St. George’s. One of the buildings affected by the fire was the office of Dr. Terrence Marryshow. This building housed Dr. Marryshow’s laboratory which provided a wide range of services inclusive of X-Ray services. The equipment used to perform X-Rays contained a radiation source and if comprised can have very negative impact on the environment and persons exposed.
