St. George, 19th February, 2021– The Ministry of Infrastructure Development is planning to commence work on a section of the road linking Belmont to Jean Anglais, St. George. In this regard, the road will be closed for two weeks beginning from Sunday 21st February up to the 7th March, to facilitate the construction of a cross culvert and adjoining inverts to improve the drainage in the area. Officers of the Grenville Fire Department responded to a dwelling house fire at Hermitage, St. Patrick, in the early hours of Friday 19th February, 2021.  On arrival at the scene, the wooden and concrete structure was destroyed as a result of the fire.   Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department, subsequently detained a resident of Hermitage, St. Patrick for Arson, after he confessed to committing the act.   The suspect is in police custody assisting with investigations.  
A foreign national presently on vacation on the island of Carriacou, was reportedly raped by a resident of the island.    The incident occurred on Thursday 18th February, 2021, at approximately 10:00 a.m., while the visitor was out exercising at Belmont, Carriacou.   The suspect is in police custody assisting with investigations.   Police investigations are ongoing. 
Twenty-eight (28) year old Sandy Fortune of Plains, St. Patrick was arrested and charged on Tuesday 16 February, 2021, for Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.   Fortune appeared at the Gouyave Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 16 February, 2021, and he pled guilty to both offences.  He was sentenced to Her Majesty’s Prison for twenty-eight (28) months on the charge of Possession of a Firearm, and twenty (20) months for Possession of Ammunition.  The sentences are to run concurrently.   The Firearm and ammunition was discovered during a special operation conducted by the Rapid Response Unit on December 31st, 2020.
